Quite a President

From The Christian Post. .. .”The president’s belief in God and the power of prayer also emerge.
After he was shot March 30, 1981, Reagan said he looked up from a hospital gurney and prayed.
“But I realized I couldn’t ask for God’s help while at the same time I felt hatred for the mixed up young man who had shot me. Isn’t that the meaning of the lost sheep? We are all God’s children & therefore equally beloved by him. I began to pray for his soul and that he would find his way back to the fold,” the president wrote.”  End Excerpt from the Christian Post

Amazing words from a man, a father, a President who had just been shot.
**Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.(NIV) *Colossians 3:13 *

Learning to Reach the Misunderstood Generation
by Anna Miller

You Want Us to Do What?
As with most careers, ministers’ job descriptions tend to morph into something they don’t recognize anymore. The great people of their church want them to “fix” everything from a leaky faucet in the downstairs bathroom to neighborhoods of lost people in the community. For some ministers the answers come easily, but then there are those not-so-easy-for-anyone-to-answer kinds of problems. For instance, if someone told you and your staff that reaching the young adults in your church and community was critical for the future of your church, would anyone among you know how to accomplish such a feat? . . .

Who has time to read the bible in a year?

I was listening to an online tool this morning and began to think about the Bible. Why is it important too me? Why do people read it? Is it relevant today?

As I listened to the passage from I Samuel, I had to think what on earth are these people talking about? Who cares that Samuel had sons and their names were Joel and Abijah?

But I kept listening. . . and I heard “The people have demanded!” What is it that these people were demanding? “Behold, you are old and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now appoint for us a king to judge us like all the nations.”

Hmm. . . People demanding to be like the other nations. . .

Sounds kinda familiar. . . I like to follow the crowd too. It’s a lot easier than trudging through for myself and discerning God’s will for my life and work. It’s a lot easier to just let someone else do it and to make the rules/laws and tell me what to do.

It’s interesting that some people don’t read Scripture because that’s what they think it is, a bunch of old rules and laws for people ages ago.

But it’s a lot more than that. It’s a door to an understanding of who GOD is, and who WE are. “I come that you may have LIFE and have it to the full” John 10:10

But I’m kinda interested I’ll do a comment poll. How many of you have read the Old and New Testament?
If you haven’t read any but would like too, there is a nice little tool that will help you. It can even read the passage to you if you would like.
Go to Google and add a Gadget to your personalized home page “Read the Bible in a Year”
If you haven’t set that up just go to www.google.com and click on Personalize my Homepage.
Or you can visit this post about it here!

Oh BTW:
I’m the “All option” on the Poll!

I Got Mail and It Wasn’t a Bill

Usually the mail is mostly bills, credit card offers, and sale circulars. I found myself pleasantly surprised Saturday a week ago. A package arrived for me from my friend Dawn’s husband. He sent an advance copy of Building 429’s new CD Iris to Iris. Jesse is in the band. I felt very special to receive the band’s latest work of art direct from the him. My husband and I immediately popped the CD into the computer to have a listen. Since then I have probably listened to it 4-6 times. WOW! It’s good. Can I say it enough. It is good.

Let me define good. It is sound musically. Creative lyrically. Honest dealing with the Christian life. I could ramble for an hour (and did with Hubby). Anyway, if Building 429 is new to you or an old favorite check out the new CD.

Let me know what your favorite track is. Mine is track 7, Waiting to Shine. The keyboard intro is beautiful! Something about the song soothes my heart and stirs a desire to know Him more.

Welcome

Welcome to my wife’s new blog. I sort of cajoled her into starting this, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it has a slow start!
However, I can assure you what she has to say can and will be at times enlightening, inspiring and challenging. She so often can penetrate the chaff and fluff of a situation, relationship and recipe that I can assure you things could certainly be interesting.
Please feel free to comment to encourage her to post and let those thoughts be known. And I can also most assuredly attest to the fact that Misty definitely Cooks!
